AI Title Examiner tester kit

Connect a local stdio-capable MCP client on Windows, macOS, or Linux to the
hosted examiner. Direct Streamable HTTP clients need no kit. The client must
support MCP and the selected transport; the server uses a private bearer key,
not an OAuth sign-in. Client configuration formats differ.

Before you begin
- Install Node.js 22.16 or newer and npm on the machine running your client.
- Obtain the operator's private HTTPS /mcp endpoint and pilot key.
- Extract title-examiner-tester into a permanent private folder.

Setup, from the extracted kit root
1. Run: npm ci --prefix scripts
2. Copy .env.example to .env (PowerShell: Copy-Item .env.example .env;
   macOS/Linux: cp .env.example .env).
3. Edit .env and replace the key placeholder. Keep it private. On macOS/Linux,
chmod 600 .env restricts access. On Windows, review Properties > Security.
4. In your client's documented local MCP configuration, set command=node
(or the full Node executable path). Set args to the absolute path of
scripts/mcp_bridge.mjs and the operator's HTTPS endpoint, as separate items.
Windows JSON paths can use forward slashes. Do not assume environment
variables or home-directory shortcuts expand in JSON.
5. Save and reload the client. It must launch the command on this same machine.
6. Ask the agent to discover tools and call list_surveys. Do not start a job.

Success: six tools appear and list_surveys returns registered cases. This check
makes no title-model calls. Installation uses npm; connection launches Node
and the locked mcp-remote dependency directly, without downloading packages.

Keep the key out of prompts, URLs, command arguments, screenshots and reports.
Agree case scope and model spend before an examination. Save its job ID and
reuse that ID after reconnecting. Cloud/browser/mobile clients without local
process support need a compatible direct HTTP integration instead.
